WORK AREAS
Avaazein Foundation supports work that is grounded in constitutional values and believes in learning, accessing and strengthening democratic rights.
We support those working in areas that are remote and inaccessible, that are part of difficult contexts, areas where access to justice is challenging, and where human rights indices are troubling. We look to work with groups, collectives and NGOs, as well as individuals whose access to funding and other resources (including knowledge and information) is limited.
This is done through different strategies – each forming a Portfolio for Avaazein. Presently, there are two portfolios through which this support is ensured.
OUR APPROACH
Our approach is to create scope for innovation, flexibility, and inclusion. We believe that communities charting out their journeys of transformation can catalyse the desired change.
- Change needs to be resourced with passion, time, money, skills, knowledge, art, and like-minded networks. But just as importantly, it needs love and affection, trust, and a belief that change is possible!
- Encouraging and supporting diverse voices to strengthen and sustain constitutional values.
- Each step of change is valuable. The parameters of identifying and evaluating change are best self-defined by the persons or communities themselves.
- Each journey of access to justice, equity and dignity would be unique.
- Partners need not have a common shared language but need to share values.
